Mixed Emotions on Bachmann’s Departure

With Michele Bachmann’s retirement from Congress, we’re getting rid of at least one blathering Tea Party idiot; however, we’re also losing a great source of material for posts. True to form, Bachman didn’t disappoint in an interview with the Washington Post on her future plans, where she stated she’d like to find:

… a position at a think tank (preferably having something to do with foreign policy).

Yes, she actually said that. Self-awareness has never been a Conservative strong suit. As for foreign policy creds, this is the woman who said in September of this year:

“…we want our 1980s foreign policy back.”

That, and the resurrection of Ronald Reagan of course.

Who could forget her 2012 debate promise to shut down our non-existent embassy in Iran, or her referrals to the non-existent Soviet Union? How about that press conference in Egypt with the other two stooges, King and Gohmert, where she painted the entire Muslim Brotherhood as terrorists?

She constantly warns against “creeping Sharia”, whatever the hell that means, yet uses Biblical arguments as to why we should stand with Israel right or wrong:

…if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play. And my husband and I are both Christians, and we believe very strongly the verse from Genesis, we believe very strongly that nations also receive blessings as they bless Israel.

I cannot begin to imagine the perpetual humiliation we would have gone through as a country if by some fluke (such as every other human being suddenly struck dead) she had become President.

Ten to one she ends up at the Heritage Foundation, or the National Center for Policy Analysis with her buddy Allen West. Most legitimate “think tanks” have probably changed their addresses and phone numbers by now.

While there are plenty of Tea Party wingnuts to step up and take her place, it just won’t be the same; Bachmann’s always been a special kind of crazy.

We’ll miss you too, Michele.
